a lone weekend

a lone weekend

I was on my own for the weekend.  G was hosting Cordy Cord's bachelor party.  It would have worked out perfectly had my project started as planned.  I was going go to STL this weekend to visit my Tammy Lee.  Unfortunately, my project has been delayed and haven't traveled yet.  Thus, my travel to STL was "denied."  Oh well, another time!

Friday, G left me mid-day to begin the bachelor party with a night of camping.  I was still on some conference calls and wrapping up a few things on my latest project when he left.  I missed him in just a few short hours and then took a nap after all the heat exhaustation.  I ended up cleaning the house a bit and responding to very late emails in the evening.

Saturday morning I went for my AM workout where there was this odd tension amongst two of the instructors for my class.  One instructor was brand new and hasn't honed her teaching techniques and timing yet.  The other instructor has been teaching for years and thus doesn't quite follow the exact choreography.  There was clash between the two instructors and the whole class could just feel the tension.  It was bizarre!

Later I went over to my sisters.  We headed to Korean BBQ with Johnnie for lunch then to Las Americas for some shopping.  Las Americas is pretty big and thus never seems as crowded as the Carlsbad Outlets.  We found parking easily but it was HOT, HOT, HOT there.  There seemed to have been a lot of great sales but I didn't actually purchase that much.  A lot of the clothes was in summery colors which sadly doesn't look great on Asian skin tone.  We are a little too olive for peach, seafoam green, and magenta.  And when we tan, or at least when I tan, I look dirty against a color like salmon.

After a few hours, we headed back to my sister's place to do a little baking.  I was making BCCP again because they were so awesome the first time and had to share.  The strange thing is that the banana cream filling was a lot thinner than the past two times that I made it.  They didn't seem as dense.  I followed the recipe again.  I think it might have been boiling at the last bit.  I didn't let the mixture boil and just turned it off when I thought it was close to boiling.  I'll have to test that theory next time.  But the BCCPs came out delicious again and looked awesome.  I will have to get the photos from my siblings since I didn't have my camera around.

My sister made this almond loaf that was pretty good.  It was like a light "danish" sort of thing.  Earlier this week, she made mint chocolate chip cookies so I took some cookies as well as the almond loaf home.  Yummy!

We went to dinner at Chipotle after all the baking.  My stomach was filled with Korean BBQ, starbucks, and desserts that I could barely eat my burrito.  Good thing I was good and cut it in half before finishing it all and then regretting it.  Ha!

It is always great to spend time with my siblings.  I would say for siblings, my family and I are pretty close.  We talk weekly at a minimum and get together at least monthly.  Over the years we've become a lot closer and realize how similar we are in some ways.  We can talk and laugh for hours.  We can say anything and never worry about being judged or criticized.  We understand each other without saying anything or merely saying a single word.  It is nice that we have this closeness and I hope it remains throughout our lives.

After departing my big day with the siblings I came home to find my house still standing and my cat still alive.  The boys were coming over to our place during the day to BBQ, drink, play poker and sorts of other boyish things.  They were headed out to a baseball game, then bar hop downtown until 2 AM.  They didn't make too much of a mess with the exception of someone's shoes left on the seat of my couch.  Argh!  I know, I'm anal.  I cleaned up after them and then played a little with Mr. Andre.  We fell asleep shortly afterwards and woke up around 3 AM when the boys came home.  I don't completely remember waking up.  I only remember Andre kicking me as he jumped off the bed to see who had come home.

I woke up hours before the boys realized the sun had even come out.  Headed out to the gym and the shopped more until most of the guys left my house.  We have just Mr. Bachelor himself passed out on the couch right now.  I guess he threw up a few times and is still hung-over.  Don't know how long he's staying but it maybe late.  Poor guy!  I'm anxious to view the photos from their adventures.

Hmm... tempted to open up the work laptop to see if I got any notices about traveling to Oakland this week...
